Richard Fipps was a member of the Unified Ku Klux Klan, an organization headquartered in Gulf, North Carolina. He appears to have joined in Florida, though he later lived in Tennessee. The Ku Klux Klan was formally incorporated under the laws of the state of Georgia on Dec. 4, 1915.
